What happened to January?

It has been so long since I’ve blogged. Cold, very cold and DH was sick. January was not one of the best months. Great Grandmother Wilcox’s funeral was just after New Year. There were so many great memories shared that day. The weather held off so we were able to be there but Uncle Don’s plane got stuck in Edmonton. It was a bittersweet day.

School started and so did my new bus route. The very early morning was so cold the diesel would not start! Great the first day and already a major snag. The other driver was able to pick up my first batch of kids so it did work out. The next day was not much better when the bus had to be jump started – again! Yes the bus would not start because the battery was dead for the second time in two days. The weather is so cold the diesels are not starting. Wednesday the buses were cancelled. Cold! So cold!

The washing machine died! We had it checked and it would cost as much for a new one as to repair ours. So it was off to get a new machine. Boy does the laundry pile up after a few days! We picked it up another front loading machine almost identical to the old one. Glad to have a machine but it took a couple of days to catch up on the laundry.

Near the end of January Grandpa W celebrated his birthday but was sick so we did not go and see him or Grandmom. DS1 has exams this week but is exempt from all but two of them. January wrapped up warmer than it started and brighter with increasing daylight. Happy Year of the Ox everyone!

Evacuations

It’s a beautiful day outside.  The school bus evacuations are done and they went without any mishaps. It was easier than I had thought and it helped the older boys were willing, actually eager, to help by going out the back door. I was called into the office today and asked if I could do the run indefinitely as I am a “spare driver”. Of course I said yes.  It sounds like Bonnie, the regular driver, will not be back before Halloween. The kids on the bus are slowly beginning to accept me.  Life is so busy for me and hopefully it will ease soon. oct3
